Our Philosophy
Our main goal as Jesus' followers is to stay connected to the Spirit constantly, learning to be with Jesus in every moment and aspect of our lives. We bring his presence into our daily routine, adopting his lifestyle to experience his life. We approach “being with Jesus” through the practice of prayer, solitude, sabbath, fasting, and study.
Be With Jesus
The New Testament promises radical transformation. Many doubt its possibility. Change is possible, but not as expected. To resemble Jesus, adopt his traits and undergo inside-out transformation. We approach “being like Jesus” through the practice of dealing with our past, discovering our identity, forgiveness, community, simplicity, and following a rule of life.
Be Like Jesus
As Jesus' apprentices, we're called to follow him and continue his work on earth, including healing the sick, praying for the lost, and welcoming those far from God. We practice “doing what Jesus did” through the practice of hospitality, peacemaking/reconciliation, doing justice, and preaching the Gospel.

What We Do
Our practice of spiritual friendship is very similar to spiritual direction, which is defined as; a relational process in which a trained spiritual guide listens to and walks with someone who desires a deeper relationship with God. We are not certified spiritual directors, but we have walked through a lot of spiritual direction literature and consider our practice just walking with you and will always suggest and refer you to a certified director or counselor in certain situations.
Spiritual Friendship
Equipping at Oikos is the biggest component to what we do in all of our spaces. From workshops to residencies, our hope is to equip you to be with Jesus, be like Jesus, and do what He did.
